Well I'm sitting here with "Steel Magnolias" playing on the tv. Now I will be the first to admit this is more of a chick flick then anything but I do enjoy it. The actresses are incredible, how can you go wrong with Shirley MacLaine, Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Olympia Dukakis, Daryl Hannah, and Julia Roberts. Then you have the story and the lines in it. They are very well done. So if you have watched this movie do you like it? Which scene is your favorite? Do you have a favorite quote? My very favorite quote is "I'm not crazy M'lynn. I've just been in a very bad moood for 40 years" by Shirley MacLaine's character Wheezer but I have many more then I like as well. One other though that stuck out was "We'll discuss uncomfortable when you are nine months pregnant," said by Daryl Hannah's character Annelle. I have way too many favorite scenes to list. I'd be here all night if I did but to start this off I'll give one. The whole wedding reception. Too many great lines and interactions to not be my favorite. So what's yours?

You know, when I saw this movie before, I was so obsessed with not liking anything "feminine" that I didn't even give it a chance. Now you've inspired me. I'm going to go add this to my list of "movies to rent sometime". Thanks!

Hehe I can understand that. I think you'll enjoy it if you get the chance. The humor in it is very good but it's the humor you want in life when dealing with real life issues. I hope you enjoy it when you see it.

im usually not very fond of dramas or "chick flicks" however Steel Magnolias was a great movie! and Wheezer is the best! there arent too many movies that at the end your crying your eyes out, and then they deliver a seen that makes you laugh and laugh! can you imagine having to color that many Easter Eggs?!!

I cannot imagine coloring that many eggs. It's like at the beginning when they show the trunk filled with them. How can you do that many eggs and then to have them smashed? I think I'd have cried.

The whole scene is great. "You missed your chance M'Lynn. Half the parish would give their eye teeth to take a wack at Weezer". It was just what was needed right then.

I loved that movie I have seen it several times. I like it when they are all together having fun talking and giving advice. But sad to see Shelby passed away. This show has a great story line and characters too.

I have to confess I just loved this movie too I loved so many scenes it is difficult to pick just one there are some many tender moment like poor Julia having to cut all her pretty hair off it was so sad. or dolly getting her 2 shops that was cute and funny and of course the father trying to shoot the birds out of the trees I was in stitches. But the most incredible scene at the end with sally Fields and Julia Roberts in the hospital room alone as she lay dying was so full of love and sweet sorrow it makes me cry every single time. The acting was superb. Now you know I have to see it again soon thanks Cheryl

Hehe when Tom Skerrit is trying to get rid of the birds and then tries to use the firecrakers...then to have all women go running and Wheezer telling the dog to sic him. Oh when M'lynn is trying to get Shelby to wake up and then when they turned off the machines...oh I cried. It was such a powerful scene especially when the men left because they couldn't deal with it.

I haven't seen that movie in years but I remember it being a real tear jerker. Wheezer was a kick in the pants, but Daryl Hannah's character dying was just too sad. Did you ever see Beaches? That was another in a similar vein and also very good.

First I lov Steel Magonlias, its one of my all time favorite movies and one that I can actually watch many times over. A lot of movies I just can't stand more then once, some not even once. lol One of my favorite scenes in this one is where Julia Roberts goes into her "spell" when she is getting her hair done. There is just something really powerful about that scene that grabs me each and everytime. But another favorite of mine is Dirty Dancing. I so love that movie and my favorite quote from it is "No one puts MY Baby in the corner" when Johnny comes back into the end of summer dance and gets Baby to dance the last dance with him. I just love the force and pride in his voice when he says it.

Oh I know and she's kind of out of it. It really showed that Julia Roberts we would see a lot of. That was one of her first acting jobs, it was the first big one. I know I saw an interview with Sally Field on it and she said she knew from working with her that she'd be doing a lot more.

I saw this movie quite a few years ago and to be honest I can't remember the quotes, although I loved the movie. I thought, like you,the actresses were brilliant. Sally Field played her part of the grieving mother very well. Did it make you cry? I think it was one of the few movies I cried in.

Yes this is one of the really great movies out there that can really move you . I have watched I think twice now and everytime I watch it its just as good if noyt even better than the first time. I am a big fan of Julia Roberts anyways loved her in Pretty Woman and Erin Brocovitch so I am partial to any movies of hers. I can't say which part was actually a favorite of mine I liked the whole movie myself. The ending was so sad . I think that any movies that can evoke emotions into like this movies will is a great mob=vie to watch . I think I cried more with this movies than any movie I have ever watched you just get so involed with all the characters that you can't help but feel some emotions . Now I am wanting to see this movies again ...lol will have to keep a watch out to see if it coming on anytime soon ...now I wish I had bought the DVD ...

Hehe I know how that goes with wanting to watch a movie and not having it right there to do so. Been there often enough :) I know this movie has you crying and laughing a lot. You get so wrapped up in it and you need a box of kleenex right there on hand during it, no matter how many times you watch it. I think part of it is we can identify with the characters so much. At least in part and that is what makes it so great.

Oh this is one of my favourite movies too. I'm not clever enough to be able to give you quotes, I'm sure there are more precious words of wisdom on top of the ones you've favured us with. Another movie that I think is in the same vein is Driving Miss Daisy. Apart from anything else, the makeup is fantastic.

There were a lot of good lines in that movie. Far more then what I put up. It's one that sticks with you that is for sure. Driving Miss Daisy is a fantastic movie and another one with some great lines in it.

I adore this movie... it is one of the few sad ending movies I will watch over and over... now about quotes... well thats too many to name and one other thing... I'm one of those people who without noticing will pick up stong accents around me... so everytime I watch this movie I have a southern accent all day long! it drives my friends crazy because no matter how hard I try to get rid of it it wont go away til next day

Hehe I can just imagine cause some of them really had the accent in there. I know it's one I'll watch at any time. It's one you laugh, cry and laugh but it sticks with you. It's got a lot of great lines I agree. Too many to really pick some of them out.
