Africa is NOT a country!

I have noticed something lately that is driving me nuts! On two different game shows this week, there has been a question asking about a country- one, for instance, was "Which country has the most interesting women?" Both times, someone has answered "Africa". Are people really that geographically stupid? I can't name every single African country off the top of my head, maybe only 20, but I can't believe that anyone would think Africa is a country!

Kalikala, I do not think that that "mistake" is the result of ignorance: I think the depiction of Africa as a nation is deliberately done - it is as if the perpetrators are under the assumption that by portraying Africa as a nation, they would eventually undermine and/or minimize the real strengths and effects of Africa in the world.

You are absolutely right! I find it really irritating when I hear all those stars saying that they'll spend their holiday in... Europe. Hellooo! Europe is a pretty large place, and something tells me they're not going to Spitzbergen or Transnistria...
