i am 33 yr old sahm to 4 kids. i was always into the medical field. i was a medical assistant and maternity tech for about 7-8 yrs. i was a nursing student but dropped out in the middle of the first nursing class semester because i was trying to get pregnant and that was distracting me from school since we were experiencing infertility. i was planning on going back after jd was born but then i got pregnant on my own with ryder. after ryder, i got pregnant very quickly with jesse so i never had a thought about going back to school at that time in my life. i finally went back when jesse was 9 months old, for nursing, but realized very quickly that the nursing school schedule wasnt going to fit into my mommy life. so i changed my major to nutrition. after a semester of that, i realized that i would have a lot of schooling to go to get a degree and that i dont like chemistry and there were a lot of chem classes, so that was out. while in school for nutrition, a writing job fell into my lap for a weekly newspaper. i always loved to write and always got a's in my english comp classes in college. i wrote my first two stories and was told that i was good. that made me feel good!! i was told before i started that when they saw how good i was, i would eventually after a few months get a cover/center story. well, my first and second stories went into the same paper. then my third was a cover and center story!! yeah for me!! then my fourth was a cover, center and a few other pages long!! so everyone says that i finally found something that i am good at, besides being pregnant..lol. so i changed my major to journalism. i only have 3 semesters left for my assoc. then on to my bachelors. but it is scary. i have always been in the medical field, somehow and now i am not. it is scary. but kinda fun!! has anyone else ever switched careers, in their 30s or after having kids??
