How old were you when you moved out of your parents' home?

The first time I left home to live elsewhere was two years after I graduated from college and moved to another country. I've always wanted to move out during college but my brother moved out first. So, my mom wouldn't let me. She said there has to be at least 1 child at home. So, how old were you when you left? Or are you still at home?

I guess as long as you visit, your dad shouldn't be on your case anymore.

Which time?? =) The first time I moved out I was 19, then moved back in a couple of months later. Then about a year later I moved to another state for about two years then moved back again for a couple of months then moved out again to an apartment locally then moved back again for a month or so then moved out again and have been out of the house since. =)

Wow! You must have had great adventures. Were moving out on good terms. I would think so, since you moved back again.

Yep! Always on good terms. My parents are wonderful people and would let me stay at their house for as long as I need/want. I am and always will be welcome in their home. =)

I moved out when I was 16 years old. But by that time, I already had one child and was married. I moved out the same week I got married. And moved 3,000 miles away. Talk about moving out! LOL

Wow! 16 years old. That must have been an exciting experience, and a special year you won't remember. A child, marriage and moving all in one year. Hope it all worked out for you.

The decisions we made in the past, paves the road to our future. No regrets. Same as my brother.

The first time I left home, to go it on my own, I was 17 goin on 18. I rented a 3 bedroom house and ended up having to get a boarder in, whom after a couple of months I kicked out. Due to stinking toe jams and home brew smells... Pooh!!!

Wow! Guts. Lots of it. When I was 17, I was still at home feeding of mommy and daddy. I envy you. You must be very independent as a person. No comment on the boarder, though.

I was dropped kicked out the door at the age of 18. My parents moved and did not want me to go with them. So I had no other choice but to find somewhere else to go. I did not handle it to well. I did not have loving supportive parents, they just did not want to support me anymore. To compensate for that I let my children live with me as long as they wanted to. My daughter moved out at the age of 21 and my son moved out at the age of 18 was gone for a year and back home until this February of this year, at the age of 25. He became a royal pain in the rear for me and it was time for him to move out. He is now in another state. Wow to have a mom who would not let you move out I cannot even fathom what that would be like. Does that mean they where loving caring parents? If so I am glad for you.

I feel for you. Yes, my parents are loving parents. Although, I live in another country, when they visit, she still cooks my favorite foods. I'm very lucky, and I thank them for that. I wish you were as lucky as me. I hope you are stronger as a person because of your experiences. Good luck to you.

I was 18, it was a dramatic thing and I wouldn't see them again for another 2 years. Which at this point I was being stalked and they had me move right in. I stayed there a very short time period of less than 6 months before I moved on. I think it is something very hard to do, moving into your parents home after you've already left. Rules are different in your eyes, but not their eyes.

True, my brother left for college and that was the end of that. My parents asked him to come home, but he just loved the freedom too much.

Good for you. Sometimes getting away is the best answer to problems. Hope you are doing well.
