Someone responded to a post of mine and said WIC is a touchy subject. Do you think it is as well? Why do you think that is? I'd like to hear as many points of view on this as possible, because I am curious. thanks!

I assume you are talking about W.I.C. Its a decnt program and helps alot when it comes to things like milk, baby formula and cereal. I dont see anything wrong with using it. That stuff isn't chaep. My only issue with it is they are awful nosey about your finances and they examinations and blood tests they give your child to qualify. If it wqasn't for that fact, it would be a perfect program. If you are thinking about it, I would go for it. It really does help.

As a tax payer, don't you want to know that the program is going to those in need and not just passing food out?

I think WIC is a wonderful program that helps mothers and children in need. The goal is to properly nourish the young child. It is very different from a regular food stamp program-- with WIC there is a list of pre-approved healthy foods that may be bought. I think it is a good thing!

Why is WIC a touchy subject? Nobody likes the fact that there are people out there who just live off of the system because they are too lazy to work but that is not the case for everyone. It is also not the fault of the small children who need formula to drink. Although I do not use WIC, I am glad it is available for the people who are making an honest effort to support themselves and just need a helping hand.

I don't think WIC is a touchy subject- I wonder why they said that- I think any topic is a bit touchy--Just be aware that when you post your discussion some people may take it the wrong way, be offended, or disagree with you- So be it- Thats what great about mylot-- We are sharing our opinions- Keep up the good work- I am looking over your discussions and many of them are very interesting to me- Not touchy! And we all have the choice-- If we find one too touchy for us-- skip it!

why would wic be a touchy subject to some? wic is there to help those that fall into their financial scale so if you qualify, why wouldnt you take the help. for someone that is formula feeding, formula gets very pricey. so why is it bad to accept help if need be? i am not on wic, nor have i ever, but i just done see what the problem is.

I shouldn't think that WIC is touchy. Me and my kids are on it, and I'm glad about it. We get milk, cheese, peanut butter, cearal and juice. At least my kids will get some kind of nutrition.

I agree with the other posters on here. I don't see why it would be a touchy subject. It is actually a government program that I agree with. And there aren't many of them!

I think that WIC is a great program. I have worked all my life and my wife used this program when she was pregnant and it was a tremendous help. And contrary to popular belief we are our brothers keepers. There are many people that see it as a a government handout to people that do not want to work which was not our case at all. I worked as many hours as I could and just could not make ends meet. Anyway I think that WIC is an awesome program

Not a touchy subject at all,in my opinion. When my kids were small, it was a lifesaver for us. I worked full time but being a single mom, it was often tough to make ends meet. It was really about the only program that would help me out. They also had very good advice. I think it is a wonderful program.
