Why do people still smoke?

Why are people still smoking when there is so much research that proves it kills you?!!!! I can understand older smokers a little better because they may have started the habit before they understood the consequences... but people who have grown up knowing it can cause cancer of all kinds? Why do people still do this?!

I think it's because of the crowd people hang out with. When they are younger, it's cool to smoke because it is dangerous and wrong. When you're older and trying to quit, it's hard to do if everyone around you smokes.

I am part of the "younger" crowd... and honestly... it just grosses me out. I don't particularly think it's "cool".

I can't quite remember what got me started smoking in the first place. I smoke, but when I try to think of how I picked up that first cig and thought to light it I can't tell you. I know that if there was a way to go back in my history and stop this rotten behaviour I would do it in a flash. I knowit's disgusting and harmful but yet I do it. Why?

You are stronger than that small inanimate object. You can quit! Just think... every day that you don't smoke... you're adding days even weeks, maybe YEARS to your life!

I smoke when I'm pressured, and it helps me to relive that feeling
