how much did you spend on your flowers?

I am a florist by trade, but am amazed at the amount of money that brides are willing to spend on flowers! I just spoke to a bride who is planning a "western" theme wedding. after several consultations, we are up to around $2400 now. I know that this is my business, but my goodness...where do we draw the line? How much did you spend on your wedding flowers and how much do you think is too much?

You still have not done that wacky Oh I mean western wedding yet? When I was a little girl people would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I would always say I want to be a florist. I never did, but I still love flowers. I got married like 13 years ago but I am thinking we only spent like 450.00 on flowers. It was a Christmas so everything was decorated pretty nice to start with. We used cuttings from pine trees on the tables and a simple candle. We did alot of it. Good luck with the wedding!

well, i had my bouquet and corsages within a package from the bridal studio, so I'm not sure how much it cost separately. however, the flowers for my church decoration cost about $500 Singapore dollars, which is about $300 USD. which is quite cheap compared to the USD $2400 that you're up to with your client! I think it's prudent to assess her creditworthiness! hope she realises that she does need to pay up at some point! most people get carried away planning for their once-in-a-lifetime wedding and forget to be realistic. :)

I spent about 800 dollars, which I actually think was too much. For the work the florist did, obviously she charged a reasonable amount - the flowers were beautiful, fresh, and perfect. But I got a lot of flowers, some of which I did not want but my mother in law insisted I would want. (Some of which I was allergic too, but she had a bit of trouble listening to me or my then fiance).

very minimal, I made my bouquet out of silk flowers and the girls carried a single stem rose with baby's breath and ribbon, they also had a floral wreath on their heads. my maid of honor purchased the flowers... the table decorations we had balloon bouquets totaled around $200. I just purchased a casket spray which was absolutely stunning, after looking online (gasping at having spent so much) I find that I got a very good price at 125.

i have no idea of the expense of a wedding.but i do read some news about luxurious weddings, they spends ten thousand dollors for wedding photos, dinners, parties, roses, chocolates, cakes and so on. in my opinion, it should be frugal.just spend what you have to. it is ok.

I have never spent that much money on flowers ever! I have been married three times and my first wedding, I had a bouquet and a few bouteniers for the men, but we had a small gathering and it wasn't that big of a deal. My girlfriends wedding cost well over $30,000 dollars. I know her flower arrangements were over $2000. I thought that was insane. to see her struggling and hiding credit card bills at work from her husband, I just don't think those flowers were worth it hahaha! It's a good business but your right, where do you draw the line.
