Don't you hate that music your kid listens too?

Jimmy Dawkins - The good ol' music I listen too. That the words actually have a story in them.

I hate it when my kid puts on rap or rock that I can not unstand one word what they said in the song. Or you can unstand them but they say 3 phrases in the whole song. I mean my kid loves that type of music, but I hate that stuff that you can't unstand or sing 2 lines over and over again. Don't you wish that they would listen to that good ol' music that you can unstand and that the Musicains actually put time into the words.

That's funny... Well my kids are not old enough yet, they're only 8, 5, and 4. So I don't have to worry about that all just yet, lol. But I'm sure I will be saying the same thing. I know my mom sometimes said that about us growing up! My mom though really never gave us a choice so when we finally did leave home we listened to that kind of music, but I grew out of that really quick! I find rap music very annoying. These days rap music is terrible so I don't care for it one bit and pray to God my kids will not either. I think some rock is okay as long as it's not too crazy, or hard rock, that just urkes me to hear the heavy metal or heavy rock. It's funny though how my kids already have their favorites in styles of music by what they hear me listening too. My girls like pop/gospel music, songs that have girls singing in them, since they love to sing with the songs, I'm not too sure about my boy though, who's 4. He will hear my husband listening to a rap song once in a while and say "Daddy I like that song!" So I better get right on top of that before it's too late! lol.

All of my children listen to the same kind of music as I do. They all prefer country music. They also listen to rock music as well.I got lucky there because they all dislike rap.

Many of the groups my neice listens to I like. Not all mind you but most. She also likes some of my music. I'm just glad she's willing to listen to older music and other forms besides just the rock she listens to. She listens to a variety which is good. Now I admit some of her music I cannot stand and will not listen. It's just not something I like. She likes some rap and that just grates on my nerves. Thankfully she doesn't listen to it often.

Seems i remember being young and my mother saying turn that crappy music off, that was in the 70s. But i cant ever remember listenig to something that I had no idea what they were saying as the so called music of today. I do like most music and i dont mind some of the rap but that head banger stuff is to much for me. just give me that old time rock-and-roll anytime.

I don't love all the music my kids listen to, but I don't pass any judgment openly to them. Their music is part of their generation, not ours. We had our own music, and I clearly remember my parents not liking my taste in music. However, I also clearly remember identifying with it on some level and I'm sure my kids do the same. Thankfully, they wear their earbuds most of the time so I don't have to hear it anyway.
