A water conservation Garden - Could I get my garden to look like this? This kind of garden promotes water saving landscaping.

Here are the cuurent plans for more water restrictions. It is going to have a devestating effect on my garden if the drought doesn't break. I could never water all my garden with a can or bucket:GARDENS watered by bucket or watering cans only – no hoses. CAR cleaning with water restricted to mirrors, windows, lights and number plates SWIMMING pools only topped up if the owner has a pool cover and water-efficient toilet, washing machine and showerhead. HIGH household water users being audited by water authorities to identify ways to reduce consumption. REGULATIONS requiring industry, big businesses and government departments to adopt water efficiency strategies to reduce consumption by up to 25 per cent. The drought is getting pretty bad now and the dams are drying up at phenominal speed. We are moving soon and been investigating about Grey Water Systems. they sound really great, and you can water your plants, wash your car etc...whenever you like.

it sounds like you are having a problem like we are haivng here in South Florida. We are suffering the worst drought in 100 years. They have severely restricted water use. No car washing, lawn washing to only 2 day sa week and that is at night.Businessess have been severely restricted to. They are really clamping down hard on violaters. We are also having a big problem with wells drying up and I'm sure if this drought doesn't end soon, there will be even more drastic restrictions

Wow, that is big cuts. I do know we have some but they have never gotten that bad. I hope it doesn't last long for your gardens sake.

It's a shame that one of your pleasures is restricted in this way. In the UK, we often have hosepipe bans through the summer, but our climate is usually very generous when it comes to rain. I suppose we just have to accept that when we live where resources are short, we have to adapt accordingly. I'm sure that you could save your fruits and veggies and perhaps some favourite plants by using a watering can. I'm always surprised at how resilient most plants are to drought. A couple of days rain, and they pop right back up!

Sheesh it's rough there for you. Here in Minnesota USA when we have a watering ban its this way, Even numbered addresses water on even numbered days and odd on odd days. That's as far as our watering ban goes. I've never experienced a water ban that rough or tight. Good luck with the garden too. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I hope the drought ends soon. Those restrictions are going to be tough. Your poor garden will suffer for sure. It's very hard to get by with water restrictions.

Water is a precious commodity and the watering of the garden sounds really good by bucket and watering can. That is what we do. Cars don't really need washed all that much and I let our rains take care of mine. Not funny about a clean car anyway. Pools are a luxury and a pool cover is important anyway. Your washing machine water can be used to water your garden. Get a wash stand and let the water run into it and then use milk jugs to gather it for the garden. Our garden does beautifully with that laundry water. You could be an example for others and just doing it will get you into the pattern of it and it will become easier. Good luck with your water situation, I really hope you don't run out.

No water in Australia? How long has there been a drought? I think many communities around the world may face similar situations in the future. We are running out of usable water.
