you have to be out by their checkout time the next day. Which is usually around 11 a.m. I think this policy sux. My sister is visiting from out of state and she got a hotel in Lake George. It cost her $149.00 for the nite. She wasn't expecting this to come but they gave her the Honeymoon Suite because that was all they had left. So yeh she's loving that! Heart shaped tub 2 rooms one with a pullout couch and tv's in each section of the suite full view of Lake George right outside the balcony to the suite. That's all cool but she checked in at 7 p.m. and has to be out at checkout time in the a.m. I know you're probably all thinking why didn't I invite her to stay here? With me? She came into a little but of money and it seems to be no object for her right now. She also has 3 children and while raising them could only make ends me but now that she's come into this money she and her fiancee thought it would be nice to get away alone. So that's why she didn't want to accept my invite for tonight...Any way back to the topic here...I think hotels/motels should let you stay 24 hours no matter what the time of check in is. Does anyone else agree? Or disagree?

It is a big rip off. You have a 2 or 3 PM check in time and then an early check out time. Your not getting 24 hours and the rates in the hotels are very expensive. Another way for people to get over on us.

I do agree that it would be more fair to the customer to have a full 24 hours. But, the maids are on a schedule, so the routine of cleaning comes first. Too bad they cannot figure out another way to do business.

You brought up a point that I had not thought about. It would be nice if they could work something out so that the customer could stay there for 24 hours after they checked in and the maids could go about their routine of cleaning.

Just about where I go in South Australia, the check out time is 10.00 am, not 11.00 am. It really annoys me too. I can see the hotel/ parks point of view up to a p[oint. They can't possibly have varying checkin/ checkout times, or they would never have consistency with bookings. Usually the check in is at 2.00pm here. That doesn't mean you have to check in at that time. But just because you may check in later, that dosn't give you the right to check out later. Hotels need time to do a room clean up, that's why they have this gap between checkin & check out. We were staying at a caravan park, in a tent, & the check oyt was still 10.00 am. You can't tell me that they need 4 hours to clean the toilet & shower.

I agree one hundred percent. I agree this policy does suck. If a person is going to pay that kind of exurbant prices than it is only fair they get to stay a reasonable amount of time. I think it should be 24 hours from the time you check in.

the checking in at 10: pm and being out at 11:00 am is usual. what has gotten me is on long drive across the states i like to drive at night. i have pulled into a motel at say 9:30 am and have the desk tell me that i will have to pay for two nights to stay till the sun goes down maybe 8:00 pm, eleven hours, lol. I would get their name, the motel name and leave when i got in a room, and got cleaned up and in bed i would take my laptop a send an email to the headquarters of that motel chain explaining how they missed a room rental for the day that would have been available again that night.
