Well, missed periods are usually caused by stress, I think. Sometimes, weight change also affects a women's menstrual cycle. Sometimes this is natural but if you missed your period more than once, I think it's time to see a doctor. Here's an exerpt from epigee.org about missed or late periods: If you have a late period and a negative pregnancy test, then consider whether or not you’ve recently been sick, gained or lost a significant amount of weight, have been under excessive stress or have taken any new medications. All of these things can affect your menstrual cycle and cause you to have irregular periods. Additionally, certain types of birth control, including the birth control pill, Depo-Provera and Norplant, can cause you to have menstrual cycles disturbances. here's a link for more info: http://www.epigee.org/guide/lateperiod.html

This is a medical condition so I will suggest that you consult an OB. It is actually a fairly common condition and is caused by a lot of factors such as being overweight. Hormones play a role in the regularity of periods so the doctor may want you to take pills, yes the same one used as contraceptives. It gives you the right hormones in the right cycle so it makes your period regular. Remember you need to consult the doctor. Good luck
