How much alowance per month for a 13 yrs old girl?

We do wonder what other parents allow their teenage children to spend per month compared to their own income and if there should be a sensible limit compared to an everage income in the country where you actually live. Any suggestions? How do you handle it personally and how do explain best to your kids that money doesn't grow om trees and that most people have to work rather hard for it?

Well I've always talked money wiht my kids, they know that it doesnt grow on trees and are fairly decent with money management (though my son has his moments LOL my daughter though is amazing with money LOL)....My kids actually get a weekly allowance geared to their ages.....so my daughter is currently getting $11 a week but come her birthday next month it'll go up to $12 a week and my son gets $13 a week (it'll go up to $14 but not til his birthday in Oct)

I don't have a thirteen year old child, but I remember when I was thirteen, my parents would only give me my allowance for the week if I had done my chores all week long without a fuss. Usually the amount earned was consistant with what I had to do. Small things I got around $0.50. Larger things I got around $2.50. Small things being keeping toys and what not picked up off the floor, cleaning up my own messes etc, etc. Larger things being lawn work, cleaning whole rooms, shampooing the carpet for my parents. I believe putting certain values to what chores she has to do and if she don't do them she won't get anything for it, will teach her that things don't come free, and you have to work hard to achieve the money you are wishing to make.

I am not a parent but I can answer your question based on what happened during the time when I was 13 years old. During that time my mom will only give me P50 a day. So that's about $1. That includes my food allowance, transportation allowance, and other miscellenous. I don't have any allowance during non-school days. I also save extra money from my allowance because I'll never know what school fees will I be paying.
