Did you know that NEW bloggers can't have their blogs here?

When myLot first announced that we would be able to add our blogs here, I thought how great it would be. I was going to add my blog, but was not sure how to find the how to find the feed url so I couldn't add it at that time. Anyway, I got this all figured out and went back to add it, and now the guidelines say that the blog must be at least 4 months old. This means that those who are new to blogging cannot add their blogs to myLot until their blogs are at least 4 months old. I know that does not sound like much who has been blogging for years, but to those who have only been blogging for a month of two; it can seem to be forever if we have to wait for a two or three more months before we can add them.

As much as I hate to say it, I don't think that myLot really thought out all the details to adding blogs to the site before they went public with it. I have several blogs but there's no way I would want them associated with this site because they aren't what I would consider 'normal'. Most of it is about music or collecting Lego sets but there are some rather 'adult' ones that could really offend people. Four months doesn't sound like a long time unless you are sitting there waiting for the time to pass :]

I would not necessarily submit just any blog here either. I also am not terribly concerned about the four-month time limit for my own blogs. My point here is that I have seen some good blogs that are only a couple of months old, yet I have seen some poor ones that are a year or more old so why discriminate between the two.

For some people that would be really frustrating .... but I do not blog and don't have the time for it ... but am sure that many will find it annoying. Blogging could attract many members here .... so if they are new it might put them off being active on the forum. A couple of months is a long time really but maybe mylot don't want lots of people spamming the site or something like that. There have been many changes here ... and lots that I don't like or feel comfortable with but maybe in time that will change ... I can only be on here for bits and pieces of time ... depends on what else has to be done around our farmlet or if I am away driving a truck which is my main job. So it would not seem a long time to me ... but for someone who is here every day it would appear to take forever to pass. Good luck and hope that your time soon goes and that you can put your own blog here for all to see.

I'm sure that a lot of the changes are just going to take a little getting used to. You may feel more comfortable with them in time. As for the question of spamming due to newer blogs, I've seen older blogs that were much less developed then some of the more recent ones. I'm not referring to my blogs in particular, but to blogs in general.
