I realize that we as a society (many times) view something "new" as better. I have seen so many people jump on the bandwagon of "new" diets, "new" exercise equipment, "new" exercise videos, "new" exercise techniques, etc. They usually got bored with the routine and the end result was failure to maintain the lifestyle. And to be honest that's what we're really talking about here. Losing weight and keeping it off is a lifestyle. It has to be something you are prepared to do the rest of your life. I have lost weight and maintained the weight loss the "old" way. Let me tell you, I do love to eat. I enjoy my food but I had to make the choice that I wanted to eat to live and not live to eat. I have tried the exercise route - where I did a lot of exercise and pretty much ate what and however much I wanted to eat. That works somewhat when you're younger but as you grow older, the age old "diet and exercise" combination theory is definitely the way to go. The hardest part, of course, is the getting started part. I hear so many people talk about the smaller sizes they are going to wear and how great they're going to look in their new "smaller" outfits but that is all it is...talk. There's a lot of "wish bone" out there but not a whole heck of a lot of "backbone". Now, I'm not trying to put anyone down because it took me years to actually make the decision of what was most important to me. There are days when I "fall off the wagon" so to speak (birthday parties, holidays, some weekends, pity party occasions (you know what I mean)) but I get right back up and keep on going. That's the key. Don't give up. Now, I basically eat foods lower in fat, higher in fiber and my daily portions of whatever I'm eating are smaller. One of my big weaknesses has always been chocolate and when I really started studying about fat content, I realized that was a big factor standing between me and my desired weight. It's really tough not to eat something you feel addicted to but that's when you have to say to yourself "Who's in charge here, the chocolate covered raisins or me?" Instead of going out to lunch during my work days, I go to the gym and walk on the tread mill for half an hour or work out with the nautilus equipment. If the weather is nice, I'll take to walking outside on the sidewalks. When I'm at home, I exercise with my dog. Instead of walking at a leasurely pace with her, I jog with her and since she is an active breed, she loves it. Sometimes I'll work out with palates or yoga-type video tapes in front of my television. Shake it up; keep your exercise routine interesting. Keep your diet interesting. If you eat the same old thing everyday and do the same old exercises everyday, you are going to eventually get bored and slip back into your old habits. So, maybe what you're looking for is not so much something "new" but could it be something "old" with a little twist? Think about it and good luck to you.

After trying all sorts of pills, herbel-life ,belts etc etc,I have finally come to the conclusion that only exercise and work outs where you really move yourself can shape up your body. I go for long walks more than this I don't do anything. one thing which is very helpful is, stop eating after 6 pm , this helps a lot. If you are very hungry after 6 pm, then you can eat some salads, which are not fattening. counting your calories, avoiding greasy food, physical activties and long walks, these are the only ways to reduce your weight. It may take more than a month or two untill you will really start seeing some effects. But ultimately it will work. If you are still young then you can join a gym. That is the best. But maintianing your weight is bit difficult job that is what we have to learn. That is difficult for me too. so what can I say.......lol

even I have reached the same conclusion that until you exert your muscles a bit it won't work .

well, I think if you want to lose some weight you just have to do some exercise. for example you can run every day, I mean just jog but everyday for 1-2 hours. don't eat after you exercise!!! Wait for 2 hours, then you can eat. before you eat just drink mineral water, I think if you drink mineral water you will think again if you want to eat. Don't eat fast food! if you eat fast food, you won't lose your weight. eat veggies.. well I think that's all the healthy way to lose your weight...

I lost 18kg with the Dukan's diet. I didn't keep the diet so strictly as its in the original version, just have eaten foods that have very little carbohydrates and drank many water and tea.

For me walking is the best way to lose weight but of course, it isn't a new way. For me it's the perfect exercise, and it works too. I'm walking to work and back home, I wouldn't like to walk on a stepper but my BF is using a stepper and he got some results too. I don't believe in heavy dieting, pills etc. You can lose weight that way but it comes back very soon after you start eating normally again.

Hey! I have been doing Weight Watchers and that has really helped me. I have not only lost weight but also changed my lifestyle. Most diets don't work because the results are not permanent. As soon as you get off the "diet" you gain all your weight back. If you incorporate just a few tips into your routine you will lose weight fast and in a healthy way (and the results are permanent!) Please check out the article I written: http://helium.com/tm/270340 Thanks! And good luck with your weight loss journey! =)
