Are you tired of e-mail forwards trying to scare you?

If you are like me, you are tired of hearing about spiders that hide on toilet seats whose bite kills within seconds or people who paint their cats then take pictures of them! These things, more often than not, are hoaxes. Someone gets their hands on a strange photograph and then writes a bogus story to accompany it. Next thing you know, thousands of people are passing it around.
There's a wonderful site out there that debunks stuff like that. Everytime I get one of the aforementioned forwards, I go there immediately to see whether or not it's true. If it's false, I will respond to the forward with the link. Funny thing is, most folks WANT to believe these stories and are upset to find out that they're clever deceptions.
At any rate, when this happens to you, stop them dead in their tracks! Have a look at http://www.snopes.com/ and let me know what you think.

You want to hear something hilarious ?? I work at a Police Dept as a 911 Dispatcher. I have received said forwards in emails from DETECTIVES !!! I always use Snopes and have sent the link to them many times !! These are detectives and can't even figure out what an email hoax is !!! I giggle just thinking about it !!

Ha ha! That's priceless! It just irks me when people spread stuff like that around without taking the time to find out whether or not there's an iota of truth to it. I'm glad to see someone else is using snopes. :)

I'm qutie sick of those types of things! It's so annoying when my whole email box fills up with junk like that. I have a particular friend that always sends me those types of things, and I get so tired of it, but the one time I mentioned it to her she seemed really hurt, so now I just delete them.

I really is quite tiresome, all this scaremongering that goes on, isn't it? Most of the time i can now spot the hoaxes straight away (which is about 99% of them anyway!). However, if i'm at all unsure i also check Snopes out to see what the score is. I just wodner why people bother with these hoaxes in the first place? It's just so pathetic and juvenile. Well at least it's not quite as bad as all the 'adult' spam i keep getting...

damn scary,even though fake.
the "last 911 pic" i thought was in bad taste though.
i check snopes regulaly.i get a lot of these sent to me.

Actually, nw that you mention it, I am tired of these emails about hoaxes or hoax like information. I get them from one person all the time, and I know she is genuinely concerned about the contents of what she is sending me. I feel bad that she is being upset like this, but she always believes them. Thanks for the snopes address, I will have to tell her about it!
