Does your dog get fleas or ticks in the summer?

my Buzzy is an indoor pooch, so I really have to watch him for fleas and ticks in the summer months.
I usually put down pesticide in the spring, and that seems to help. How do you handle those pesky little bugs?

You have three areas to treat, otherwise you're never going to be rid of fleas. You have to treat the dog, the indoor environment and your yard.
I use Frontline on the dogs because its waterproof and they are bathed once a week or more. Carpet powder and flea bombs inside the house about every spring cuts the lifecycle of the fleas. Outdoors I use a lawn spray that attaches to my hose. I live in So Cal at the beach so fleas are a yearlong problem. They never ever go away!

we have 2 inside dogs, we have flea problems year round, and ticks 3/4 of the year. Frontline works good on the ticks, but has not helped very much with the fleas. Ticks do not bother me as much as the fleas, though they will use us as a host where as the fleas do not really...but the fleas live on the dogs taking up residence and the ticks will just suck their blood and leave.
Guineas have really helped with the tick situation, but I've yet to find a chicken or other bird to eat the fleas!
I think our biggest culprit is the cat, we did not have such a problem till we got her...but she is a good mouser.
We also have an outdoor dog - husky shepherd mix - and he does not seem bothered by either fleas or ticks. He has such a heavy double coat, maybe that is why?

We have three inside dogs. I can't remember ever having a flea or tick problem with any of them. We have a lawn service that comes out in the spring to get our yard ready for summer. Spraying chemicals and such so I guess that maybe the reason why.
