How do you care for/clean a Platinum ring?

My engagement ring is a platinum solitaire. I just received it this month from my guy, and already notice some little wear and tear scratches. My jeweler said that's normal, that platinum naturally scratches easily, but HOW do I take care of it at home? Can I buff it? If so, how do I buff out the scratches? Any advice would be greatly appeciated. Thank you in advance =)
