Go to http://www.pparx.org and select your state from there. This is advertised on TV (usually by talk-show host Montel Williams) and is legitimate. It's funded by the drug companies especially for people who, for one reason or another, simply can't afford to pay for their medications. Essentially, what you do at this website is enter in your prescription information (prescription name, dosage, etc.) and answer some income & money questions. You don't disclose your name, email, phone, etc. Then they will redirect you to some forms that you print out and take to the doctor who prescribes your medications. Your doctor fills in a bit of info., basically confirms what you say is true, signs off on it, & sends a prescription with it. Then your doctor (or else you) send in this information to the drug company. You should have an answer within a couple of weeks as to whether you are accepted or not. What's great about this program is that the drug companies are funding it and you might end up getting several months of your meds at no cost. Some doctors charge a modest fee for filling out the info. ($5) or so, but if you are accepted, that's a pretty small price to pay. Another idea: You might check with WalMart and Target. I know last year, WalMart priced some generic prescriptions $4, and Target (and maybe KMart ???) followed suit. Here is the link to the WalMart site about the program: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=546834

This is nice of you to provide this information for others. I live in the UK though so it isn't relevant to me.

This probably won't help me because my medicare covers most of my medications and leaves me with just a small copay, but I will definitely let my mother know about the site. She has several medicines that she has to take, and she says that her medicare isn't covering some of them.
