I have not heard of the story behind this song, but it shows that no matter what happens, one can always depend on God to pull them through. I wonder if I would have such a faith if I lost everything besides my chance to bear children, but I know that there is a mansion waiting in heaven for me. The author of this hymn lost almost everything and yet he was able to write such a beautiful hymn expressing his dependence on God.

I read the story and it is a sad yet beautiful story of faith.I have always loved that song .I have heard it many times and we have sang that same song in church..I have never known the story behind that song until now...It reminded me of job,and all the things that he went through but through it all he kept the faith...I do not understand why these things happen but I know that one day we will be face to face with God ,and we can ask him,and he will tell us "why".... It also reminds me of another song ...it goes something like this...."Buy and bye when the morning comes, and the saints of God are all gathering home,we shall him ,and we will understand it better by and by...
