Mario Kart: Double Dash!! is awesome. Crash Nitro Kart? Not so awesome. First of all, there’s the asinine boost system. As in the previous game, you must link powerslides to keep your boosts going, forcing you to keep your kart at a 45-degree angle during races. Blech. The tracks are big but bland, managing only a few meager thrills perrace. The characters are stale, and their voices are grating. You’ll probably play only asCrash or Neo Cortex because the otheropponents are totally generic and disposable.At least Nitro Kart looks nice. The framerate issmooth, and everything is sharp and colorful. Themultiplayer modes are fun, if a little sluggish.All said, this is a more competent racer thanFreaky Flyers or Super Bombad Racing, but thatdoesn’t make it worth playing.
