Cosmetics, over-priced, over-hyped chemical creams or cheap and cheerful

I have just seen a very interesting piece on television here in the UK regarding anti-ageing creams. All the pseudo science of some of these expensive pots of gunk that we slap on our faces every day, often advertised by highly paid celebrities and the like, was being discussed. The main point of the piece was that people are spending a fortune on these "miracle" creams, lotions and potions, when cheaper and simpler alternatives are just as good.
What do you think folks, expensive advertising, packaging and miracle claims or do you prefer to use ordinary day-to-day moisturisers.

Interesting.
That's the same reason I decided to start my own website offering make up and skin care products that I have tried and find effective. I got sick of looking at ingredients and figuring out what was actually active ...and noticing that ingredient was about 15th in the list on the fancy bottle that was the biggest part of the price!
I hope to branch out after things get going, and do real time gatherings to practice mixing our own skincare products. That way ladies can learn what is active, what isn't how to mix their own for cheaper and exercise control over what goes on their skin.
It is nice to see that the media is talking about the big cosmetic company scams. These places have everyone believing that they have some secrets when in reality, anyone who can follow a recipe and mix their own items.
Too cool!

To be honest, I don't use any of these expensive creams, I really can't see the justification in the price. I have my rosewater and honey cream and that's all I really use. Thanks for your comments hun, your idea sounds really good too

For myself I prefer the cheaper brands. I actually buy one from the dollar store that is great. It's their Personal Care brand, it's a face cream with alpha hydroxy and it works great. I love it. I buy it for a dollar and it lasts forever. Why should I pay $5 or more for something that won't last as long and more then likely doesn't work as good?

Oh yeah :) :) I love finding great deals like that. I'd much rather have the money in my pocket then in any company'd. They get enough of it as it is without giving them more.

Those smile lines that the heavy-duty wrinkle creams are supposed to eliminate actually make smiles look good.

Yes even in the Philippines that Cosmetics including those other beauty products were over-priced.My wife used to deal these beauty products but since the prices of these products goes high she had noticed that her costumers were not buying anymore and it made her decide to stop on dealings those products.

I remember I read a research somewhere that cheaper moisturizers might actually be more effective than those expensive ones. The people were given two products (one is expensive and one is ordinary brand), they asked the people to use both products on half of their faces each night. Of course the people didn't know which one is more expensive one and after a month, they were asked to guess which one is the more expensive ones and they were all mistaken that the cheaper one should be the expensive brand because it worked better on their faces and they actually feel it's more effective.
I used to use expensive brands of skincare or cosmetics. But now I switch to ordinary brands and am pretty happy with them. I think most of the money of the expensive products go to the celebrities, too and I don't think I'd want to invest that much on a celebrity LOL.

LOL No I wouldn't want to pay out over price just for a fancy celebrity either hun. Good to know the cheaper products are just as good too.
