In South America the names of the games are different, but I think "Martín Pescador" is in the style of "London Bridge". Other games are "Rayuela", "la Mancha", la "Escondida" and so on. I'm writing in present tense, but I'd better ask my child if he still plays them with his friends.

I think Martín Pescador and Valha Pescadoura probably are the same game. In Martín Pescador children walking in single file stop at a check point formed by two other children that make a barrier with their arms. The first in the row asks: "¿Martín Pescador: nos dejará pasar" (Kingfisher: will you allow us to pass?). And one of the children at the check point answers: "Pasará, pasará, pero el último quedará" (You will pass, you will pass, but the last one will stay here).

I am trying to remember some of the games that I used to play when I was younger. I remember jump rope, hopskotch, tag, hide and go seek, pin the tail on the donkey, chutes and ladders and London Bridge. I remember playing those games when I was younger as well as spin the bottle. :-)

I remember all those. I loved them. I think children now, need to be taught these games and encouraged to put down the video control and get outside in the fresh air. We used to play "Red Rover", that was my favorite. I also enjoyed Cartoon Tag. Another great on I just thought of was "Four Square". Wow, thanks for some neat memories there littlefranciscan.

I'm almost afraid to say it; but I've actually had my kids and my nieces and nephews look at me like I was from another planet when I tried to introduce them to some of the games we used to play. I remember Red Rover, dodge-ball, Mother may I- - And I remember superheroes flying around the block on roller skates and bicycles-instead of on the gameboy. LOL

Dog and the bone is quite a comon game here. There are two teams standing at some distance facing each other. At the centre any object{kerchief,a small piece of wood,(a real bone, lol kidding!) etc)}is kept.At a given time, one player each from both teams have to come forward, hovering around the placed object and then one of them quickly picks it up and runs back to her team. The team which gets the 'bone' maximum number of times is the winner.
As for "bandage" Lol,thinking back now I feel it was quite an outrageous game!!You've asked and I'm daringly mentioning how we played it.
mmmm..errrr..phew..ok..Well,this game required us to protect our B**T by covering it with both our palms behind and were not supposed to turn our back towards any player, and if one did,he/she got spanked.
A totally senseless game but immensely enjoyed by the little kids then. That's the reason i still remember it.:P
