has anyone else seen this movie?
i caught it by accident on cable-i'd not seen it,so i figured i'd watch it.
this is the IMDb page:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0366780/
i was stunned by the artistic vision of it-reminded me of a 90 minute TOOL video.the style was very similar to the video for tool's "sober".
basically about a girl "the princess" who has to restore balance in a kingdom divided between dark and light.it's one of those "she finds herself along the way" type movies.
the sphinx cats are funny-they manage to confuse them when he asks the riddle LOL

YES! Oh, scarlet, I could hug you. I'm so excited to see that someone else has seen this wonderful film. One of my favourite movies of all time is Labyrinth with David Bowie and Jennifer Connolly. When I saw Mirrormask I was immediately reminded of a much more up-to-date version of Labyrinth. I love the whole concept of alternate realities. That film was a surreal masterpiece--two hours of pure escape.
It's not exactly the same kind of film, but there's a Russian movie out there called Nightwatch that you might really enjoy. It mixes horror and fantasy. If you haven't seen it yet, I HIGHLY recommend it. But be warned, it is on the odd side. If you don't love it, you'll probably hate, or vice versa.

We do have a batch of fantasy lovers here! Elizabeth, I tried watching Night Watch, but just couldn't get into it. Too confusing, what with the bizarre action and trying to keep up with the subtitles. But I plan to try it again.
I'm also a big fan of Labyrinth and Dark Crystal. I realized only recently that I've gotten hooked on Henson productions generally. I'm collecting Farscape little by little, so you know it's an addiction.

Absolutely gorgeous, isn't it? I ran into it when I was getting interested in Neil Gaiman's work. I rented it from Netflix and then bought my very own copy. I've watched it so many times because it's visually stunning, with something to catch the eye everywhere you turn. And it doesn't hurt that it has Gina McKee, who I really like, and Stephen Fry, even though his part is quite small. The whole movie is so incredibly inventive.
By luck, I also have a copy of Neverwhere, which turned up at a yard sale. My all-time bargain at .25. Neverwhere isn't as good, being a low-budget British production, but it has the Neil Gaiman strangeness that I like, with some memorably creepy characters.

YES! Someone who knows about Neverwhere. Okay, this is just about the best discussion that I've found so far. Neil Gaiman is a creative genius as far as I'm concerned. Have you ever been to his website? It's packed with info as he seems to maintain it himself. Check it out: http://www.neilgaiman.com/

Neverwhere is a two-disc set. I'm pretty sure you can buy it from Amazon.
