Public Transportation

Recently here in Toronto, Ontario a young man was killed while riding our subway system. There was some kind of altercation between him and another male. They later found his body at another nearby subway station. This is terribly frightening to me...and I worry about myself and my family riding public transit. My question is, "Do you worry for your saftey while on public transit?"

Yes this was very sad and scary. I live just at the edge of Toronto and rely entirely on public transportation. the tragic thing is, most of my retired friends no longer attend functions in the evening if it means they have to take public transportation. Myself I get very angry if I think I have to be a prisoner of fear. I refuse to do this. In fact I am writing to you on my break at an Internet course that finishes at 9.30 p.m. There are certain safety rules I impose on myself but other than that I will continue to use public transportation

I don't use public transit. Here in Detroit, there has never been a subway. I always thought Toronto was one of the safest cities in the world. I still believe that. This altercation you mention was probably an isolated incident. It was among two people and not a group involvement. But I would not hestitate to use other forms of public transit.

Public transportation is normally quite safe in Singapore. I worry more about getting into public quarrels or brawls with strangers. You might win the day, but you might lose more... :(
