I'm looking for some good ideas for an end of the year present for my daughters teacher. I was thinking either something for herself or something she could use in her classroom next year so that she doesn't have to put out so much money. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Some good things that we gave were gift cards to their favorite places to shop or eat. We also had some that loved a certain thing like frogs or dogs and got somethign for them that had to do with that. One teacher loved cooking stuff and we went to Mikasa (sp) and got her this really pretty glass platter.

I got her a gc for wally world at Christmas time. I'm not sure where else to get her one for. I am planning on taking her out for lunch closer to end of the year. :) We're headed to the tea room. That place is wonderful!!

Don't worry I would never give anything off your do not give us list!! I would ave never even thought of those things, lol. Thanks for the list of things that teachers do like though cause it makes it easier for me to know what to get.

Last year I noticed many of the parents coming with Bath and body stuff or finding out where they loved to shop and getting them gift certificates to those places. ie, if their is a teacher store in your area, find out if he/she ever shops there and get them a card for it for next year, this would definitely come in hand, same thing for a book store. Other items that would just be for him/her might be handmade items, make a basket and put some items in it that you think they might enjoy. Tea, chocolate, favorite items, etc.

I'm afraid to get her something for the teacher store cause she is talking about retiring even though shes young and doing something else. Since her youngest is graduating from HS this year. Thanks for the great ideas on the other things.

teacher_hannah is right about the types of gifts for a teachers no-no list, lol. When I volunteered in my daughters school, we would take up a small collection to get gift cards for our end of the year gifts. Depending on the teacher and what they like, restaurant gift cards or book store gift cards would work for just about any teacher. By pooling funds, each child could give a small donation from their savings, yet turn it into a nice sized gift card by the end of the year. Elementary school was always a little easier to figure out what the teachers liked too. Just check with your childs home room Mom for suggestions/ideas and they're usually happy to help get things coordinated for/with you.
