How can we start a good and quality discussions?

Discussions usually starts when you tickle someones interests and get response from them. Personally, I find it hard to think of a topic that will start in a good and quality discussions. Can you give me some pointers to create a good and quality discussions? I think my discussions are blunt and without appeal!I have few responses, can you help me?
