The whole ho issues is that it is not just a slang word It is a very derogatory term it prostatute and young women should not be called a ho. I also object to women being called chicks. Both are put downs.

I agree! and 'ho' to me, seems real bad, and to be a sort of expectation, like either act like one or we Kool dudes won't have anything to do with ya.. at which point a wise woman would say good-bye.. Or wouldn't say anything at all, like yo! you don't exist..! :))

Any word such as ho, sl*t, or worse, is a derogatory term describing someones' character. How could there be a "better" word? Such talk would be gossip at the least, and an accusation or slander at the worst...either way, it is something to avoid.

Harmless slang? Absolutely not! I would never want to be called that, nor would I ever call one of my sisters, a friend, or even an enemy that word. It is a terrible, derogatory word.

I don't think anyone should call young women anything that is derogatory. So I don't think that there is a "better" word. It's not as much the word that is used as much as the intention behind it.

I think a better word needs to be found. Calling girls or women hoe's is no way to talk about them. I don't think that a girl deserves to be called a hoe if she is doing nothing of that sort. Now if she is a hoe then that's the only reason I can see for calling a girl that. It's not harmless slang at all. It's hurtful to the girl's being called that and gives them a low self-esteem.

Actually the african americans started the slang and somehow it caught on and now everyone uses that slang word now...They also started the "My baby daddy" and 'My baby moma", that has also caught on here in the states...I guess everybody uses it because it is not quite as bad as the other word...Frankly I don't use the word because i try not to name call, but i have used it in rare occassions..I have friends that use those slangs quite often, and i had rather hear that that that "B" word...I think out african american friends did us a favor because it does sound better....
