Well the weather forecast called for rain turning into snow and they were only half way right. AGAIN! Our Districts Boy Scout Spring Camporee was April 13th-15th. It started raining Thursday noght and rained all day Frinday. The forecast called for rain turning to snow Friday night with snow Saturday morning. Many of the Troops canceled. One came in on saturday AM. As my hubby and I were to be staff during the day and camp with another troop we canceled on camping and went out early Sat. morning. The weather was beautiful. A little chilly, but not bad. There was plenmty of thick, green grass so the rain didn't really cause much mud. And no snow. We had one leader drive in from a little town North West about 45 miles away and he had snow on his truck. They had snow and there was snow in little towns near him. We didn't get any in my toewn or the area where we camped near the lake. We had enough leaders and troops present to do everything that had been planned. It turned out to be a really enjoyable even. The boys even admitted the overnight rain wasn't really all that bad. (There was no lightning luckily.) Those that isn't show because of the forecast just don't know how much fun they missed out on.
Have you ever canceled a trip or weekend event becasue of the weather forecast and the weatherman was wrong?

We learned long time ago not to trust the weatherman around here. They have been wrong so many times. Often I have been out in pouring rain and come in to hear the guy on TV saying "mostly sunny with 10% chance of rain." I just want to yell, "Go look out the window Dummy!"
We did have to cancel a camp out with our Girl Scouts years ago due to rain. We stuck it out the first night but by midmorning, my co-leader was going bonkers sitting in the tent so we packed up and headed home.
Glad to hear your Camporee was a success. I think it is very important for kids to have adults involved in their lives and scouting is a great way to be involved.

I agree!
I also agree that scouting is very important for youth and adults. We did not have boys to raise but by following our cub scouts through and seeing the changes in them, wow, it's amazing me. I see now why my nephew acts as he does sometimes. The scouting training helps so much in my non scouting as well as scouting life. We even sponsored a few boys into scouthing whose parents could not afford. It hepls them so.
