am i a selfish one?

i am generous when it comes to my family and friend.
but there are times that they are asking me money but i have nothing to give. as i am having financial difficulties because of my baby and my husband lost his job.
am i selfish? why don't they understand that i am having my own problems too?

I don't think that is selfish at all.
Family is important, and as you say you are generous when you can afford to be and that is all you can do.
I actually think that your family are the ones being selfish here. They know you have a baby and a husband who is out of work which is a stressful situation to be in and not just financially. I think it is completely unreasonable of them to add to your problems with requests for help.

live your own life and you do not have any responsibility but to yourself and to your family.you are a very kind person and you feel bad if you can't help. you still want to help in whatever ways you can eventhough you have limited resources. don't get affected if you can't, they would understand and if they don't then they are not your friends and they are better off.
