The boy next door

My sons friend that lives next door is a real sweety and i feel so bad for him. His mom drinks and parties all the time and is never there for him. He has gotten into some trouble with the law but i believe it is a cry for help. He loves to spend time at my house and he really like it when i get after him go figure. He wants to live with me i know i cant do that but what things besides being a friend to him can i do to help him before his life is totally ruined?

I think you are probably doing the best thing you can for your son's friend,just by being there. He probably sees some sanity and security at your place. And of couse, he gets nice attention. I don't know what age you are talking, but I'm guessing around teenage. I also know a little girl who use to go to my son's kindy, who's a nice polite girl. Her mother often drinks, and her neighbours say she frequently yells at the little girl. She had a teenage brother who actually did move out of the home, and into his friends place. Nothing anyone can really do. Just keep being there for the lad, it's probably a big help for him.

Oh yes well the boy next door is probably doing this for his cry for help due to his mother does not care about what he does and is not there for him,. Maybe he would like to live with you as he find love in your home and not in his, I hope that you have explained to him that if it is alright with you that he can come over to your place whenever he likes but that he cannot live in your home due to his mother would not like it at all and it would cause problems.
