Answering machines

My son used always be putting funny messages on my answering machine, and I never knew anything about it until I would phone home and if nobody was there I would receive the weired messages. I often thought I had phoned the wrong number and it was only after I called a few times, I realised what my son had done. I must admit they were very funny and great fun. I used to have a lot of fun thinking up funny outgoing messages for my answering machine. Then I started using my home phone for business calls and had to get serious again. I miss the fun! My favorite was "Tammy Tumnail". I got a silly childish voice and said "Hello, I'm Tammy Tumnail and I live in this machine. It is awfully dark and lonely in here when no one is home. Would you please leave a message for the folks who own me so they will have to pay attention to me when they get home? Remember to wait for the beep!" Or variations on that theme. I had a book that I'd picked up somewhere that had lots of silly ideas in it that helped me be creative. Maybe I'll look for it and go back to fun messages, now that I'm retired. :-)

Yes we have a answering machine, you do lose a lot of time setting them up in the first place. With our answering machine I just say I am busy at the moment could you please leave your message and I shall return to you as soon as possible as it is not good to say that you are out at the moment as you never know who is phoning you and they get the answering machine.
