i had always wanted to wear my nails short and clean. whenever it grows a little longer than what i got used to, i'd immediately cut it. i prefer this becuase it is easier to manage and it is cleaner to look at. i find it disgusting to find dirt inserted in my nails. do you also have short nails? or you prefer to have long ones? what makes you like it (short or long)? do you like to have it manicured as well? how often?

Your habit is quite hygenic and good from health point of view, but few who take it as beauty part then who cares the hygine my friend? In my opinion nail growing is an animal instinct. NOTE: If cut your nails on tuesdays and on sundays then you will have a great money luck. Try it what is the harm?

I am a guy so naturally I keep short fingernails. And since I don't play guitar, there is really no need to keep them long. I don't go for those manicures..

its nice to hear that you are not so vain with your nails. i've seen some guys who like their nails to be 'done' and sometimes they even ask for nail polish to be applied on it.

As a kid I always had really long fingernails. They looked great. As I got older I was introduced to the computer. There went my nails. They are really hard so they don't chip at all. The only thing is they got in the way of my typing. I did a lot of data entry when I was working so I had no choice but to cut them. Now they stay quite short.

I do a lot of the chores at home and so I find it easier and more practical to keep my nails short and clean. Mom always had short nails and they still looked nice when she painted them and stuff. My sister on the other hand has long nails. I guess part of that is because of her job as a receptionist. She has to make sure she looks good I guess. My aunt had ridiculously long nails. I remember once she couldn't even pick up a pen to write her name in a card properly and I swore right there and then that I'd never be like that. For some women, I feel it's vanity, not all of them, but it irritates the HECK out of me when they start whining because they broke a nail.

i prefer short fingernails... easy to work with anything. i don't hurt myself with a long finger.. more hygiene coz i take my meal using hand a lot more compared using fork and spoon.. manicure... no.

i have very short fingernails. i play the piano, so i always make sure that my nails are short so they don't make scratch marks on the keys. but making sure that they are short isn't a problem to me cause i'm a nailbiter, lol!

Definitely short fingernails. I have this mannerism that whenever I get bored or nervous I bite my fingernails. So in order to avoid this, I always cut my nails. And it also looks neater and cleaner. Long nails can cut. I mean sometimes if you are in a physical activity, there's a chance that you broke your nail or you scratch other people or even yourself.

Before I like my nails long and I always manicure it so it will look clean and nice. But after I started wearing contact lenses, I have to cut it short because I find it difficult to wear my contact lenses with long nails. I just had a lasik operation for my eyes so I don’t have to wear contact lenses but I still preferred to cut it short because now that I have a 15 month old daughter, I wanted to make sure that I can never harm her in any way because of my long finger nails.

Although I think that nice long nails can make your hands look pretty sometimes, I prefer the clean short look for my everyday. It works better when I'm typing, it doesn't snag on things and it's easier to clean. If I am going somewhere and I feel that I will like to present long nails I can always let mine grow up a bit or something, but after I will cut them again.

i haven't tried using fake fingernails but i think this will be better for you because you will have to use it only when you feel like having long nails. it will not interfere with your washing or other household chores. :) thanks for your reply.

i have short ones, keep them trimmed and neat, i have to have them short, cause i am in the medical field and its not good to keep them long, seeing on how they trap germs and bacteria under them.

I keep fingernails short. It is comfortable to do things when you have short fingernails and I don't think short nails effect the look of my finger nails. I don't go for manicure. I take care of my fingers at home.

I always had short nails, it easy to manage. There are quite a few times that i tried having long (not that long) and polished nails, it feels kinda odd. My fingers felt heavier than usual (i guess from the polish). These days, i just cut it short.

yeah i prefer short nails, because short nails are neat to look at. but it also depends on the person, you can have long but clean nails. My mom said that it is on the person's nails you can see his/her cleanliness so i make sure my nails ar clean!
