tnuctipun Couldn't one of the reasons for having a stigma like this be as an incentive to get/stay off of welfare? I've known people who were to ashamed of getting their welfare checks, food stamps, etc... that they did everything in their power to get off welfare....

tnuctipun Science is not a religion, imo. If you try to proove there is no god for example you are ostracized, excommunicated, or even burned at the stake (even today with some religions). Science accepts critique.
