Do those courses that teac you how to pick up women actually work?

I think I'm a pretty average guy. I'm not fat, I'm not thin, but I'm not Mr. Bodybuilder, either. I have a pretty decent job, etc. But I can't seem to talk to women. It's like, I will go talk to them, and they seem uninterested...
