No Checks August 3rd? - President Obama announced on the news that if the debt ceiling mess could not be sorted out he could not guarantee that people who are on Social Security, Veteran's benefits, and many others will receive their benefit checks on August 3rd. Considering the behaviour of that bunch calling themselves our political class (both Republican and Democrat), the likelihood of the Debt problem being solved is as likely as a Dodo Bird riding on top of a unicorn into the senate floor. For those who depend on those checks this will be not a little sacrifice. it will be an unmitigated disaster. If they are lucky, the landlord will simply dump the poor sod on the street. Heart attacks will be plentiful, many fatal as this is a physically frail as well as financially frail population. Medication will go unpurchased, as will food, much less nutritious food.
