Marie Coyle @lovebuglena If you cut into an onion of any type and it seems too strong, soak it for a bit in ice water. It draws out a lot of the strong part and makes it much nicer to cut and eat.

Marie Coyle I use the red onions in salads all the time. If you look up red/Spanish onions, you will discover that they have a bit higher sugar content than yellow onions. I do prefer to cook with yellow/Vidalia onions.
