Would Bush have gone to Iraq if he knew what he is seeing now?

The madness of suicide bombs and the the roadside bombs wrecking mass terror on civilians and the coalition forces in Iraq were probably things George Bush did not anticipate when he made that decision to attack Iraq. About 3,300 American soldiers have died in Iraq and more are still at risk. Do you think Bush would have still gone ahead with the war had he known what he knows now?

I think what we are seeing today is exactly why we needed to go in. I would much rather lose 3000+ people over there instead of walking to work one day and being blown up over here. 3,300 is nothing compared to the lives saved and the number of insurgents killed.

I agree with you entirely Smith2028, when it comes to this war against terror. I have not forgotten the horrific scenes of september 11, but of cousre I feel disgusted to see people who were yoked, but later freed by Americans and other countries, turn into such ungrateful people as to begin killing the very people who liberated them a long with those who survived the Saddam brutality! Do i know what people want anymore?

I don't think even George Bush was stupid enough to think the Iraqi people would welcome being invaded by a country they had always been taught to hate. Or that they wouldn't fight back. The truth is, he didn't care how many American soldiers got killed and certainly not how many Iraqi civilians. He just wanted access to Iraq's oil. You watch, Iran will be next, in spite of how horribly wrong everything has gone in Iraq. I'm so glad that there's a two-term limit on presidents, the sooner he is out of office the better.

I think if he would have had a crystal balland was able to look into the future he would not have started this war. Hindsight is 20-20. Now we need to find away to bring home our troops safely. These people have fought each other since the beginning of time and they are not going to stop now just because we tell them to. We need to rwealize that every country is not going to become a democracy. We achieved our main objective get rid of Saddam andweapons of mass destruction. Now lets bring our boys home and start fixing our own Countries problems.

The problem with Iraq was we needed a worldwide force to keep an insurgency from forming. Now that one has formed, there is really no way to win since no foreign power has every put down an insurgency successfully ever. It is just history. I doubt the plan would be the same if Bush had seen into the future at the crapshoot that Iraq has become with the funny mentalists (putting the fun back in fundamentalism). What the US military needs to do is A. Have Bush apologize to the UN (they will go if we do so) or B. Actually put some competent men on the ground there. I doubt either will happen and we will pull out.
