Hi fellow temp workers

I have a dicussion I would like to open about our local temp agencies. I want to know if there are people out there that feel that we can find our own work without giving half our paychecks to someone else. I don't know about you but I feel that flipping burgers or pouring coffee is not viable for what's left of our full time job. It is so bad in my town that we have a proposed ethenol plant up for discussion at city hall and all the jobs for it are gone already. They don't even have permission to break ground yet, but it is highly likely that it will go in. The hiring rate out of our temp agencies is aprox. 1% maybe even less. As well, even though the province has given a minimum wage increase most of the temp agencies did not increase their wages. So now we have to do factory work at minimum wage. I might as well pour coffee then I can keep my full paycheck. We cannot go to factories because we are turned away and told to go to a temp agency. It is so frustrating that what I am proposing is to start a petition to have stiffer penalties put on these guys so us able bodied people can get full time work without being robbed of our money. Please if you feel that this is not right, please add your commenta and signature. Maybe we can make a difference. Thank you.

I have worked for many temp agencies myself and I do agree we are getting ripped off. The last place i worked at payed $16-17 an hour but I was only getting $11 an hour from the temp agency, this means that they were making $6 an hour off of me.I do not think this is right at all. And all of these big factories now will not hire you even with a great resume unless you go through the temp agencies so yes something should be done.
