Smokers: How Do You Avoid Inhaling The Smoke?

I don't smoke, and I don't wanna be around smokers. It is bad for me 'coz I have asthma. But everytime I walk to and from my school I can always smell cigarette smokes around me. And If I'm about to walk by a smoker I will take a deep breath and hold it until I passed by the smoker.(^-^) Do you hold your breath too? Or cover your nose?

I usually hold my breath, but my daughter is too young to know to hold her breath. I am an ex smoker, but i think smoking should be banned. How terrible it is for you and the people around you outweight ANY good things it could possibly do,
