I think it was failure of all the players as a team. We should never have lost the match against Bangladesh in the first place and after we did, our players didn't have the MENTAL strength to come back and win against Sri Lanka. India's continuous obsession with batting first on first on seaming pitches cost them big time against the Bangladeshis. I think India should have batted after winning the toss against Bangladesh because the ball was obviously moving around and the Bangladeshi bowlers took the full toll by utilising the helpful conditions to their advantage. They say the decision to bat was taken by the "Think tank" but I have sneaky suspicion that it could have Dravid. Sachin Tendulkar failed again in crucial. Come on, we should have gotten used to that by now. It has been happening for several years now. Whenever we need him to score runs in important games, he gets out on single figure score. If can't score big matches and can't help India win then this so called "India's cricketing God" needs to retire now. Again, it can also be put down to India's lack of killer instinct. For instance, India had a real opportunity to pin Sri Lanka down to around about 200 when they had lost there main three batsmen in Jayasuriya, Jayawardene and Sangakkara. They should attacked with Harbhajan by giving him a slip and a couple of players around the bat but instead Indians allowed them to get easy singles, let a new comer like Silva to settle in and let them off the hook. I am sure had the target been a little lower like 200 or 220, India would have been able to give it better shot. I don't think Greg Chappell can be blamed for India's debacle because he always had the right idea all along, he wanted to build Team India and didn't want players who think of themselves as stars and I thought that was a really good thought. If you look at Australia, no one is treated like star, each player considers himself a part of the Team and always its the Team that matters. I just hope one day, same thing will happen in Indian cricket and only then India will be able to compete with teams like Australia on consistent basis.
