Baseball* Should there Be a Salary Cap?

I am a freshman at purdue university and I am writing a paper about salary caps in the MLB, I would like to hear your opinion about wether you think there needs to be a cap or not and why. Thanks

My problem with the salary cap is that it limits teams' ability to bring out the best show. Although it would level the playing field, it would not work because: a) players would not agree to paycuts, b)smaller market teams would still be less, c)less money would be brought in to already struggling franchises in terms of bringing in revenue, attendance etc. Also, it is interesting (for me at least) that smaller market teams can still pull through constantly (Case in Point, Oakland A's), while large market teams (Case in point, New York Yankees) are not always as perfect as they are supposed to be. In conclusion, I don't believe this would benefit baseball. Also, I want to know what kind of class this is for :D, and you can totally quote me for my views up there 0:)
