Coke? Best tanning lotion?

Do you believe that coke is the best tanning lotion? Velma from Milwaukee writes; "I was in Mexico a couple of years ago and a lady saw me tanning outside the hotel and I just couldn't tan, she then said, "want a great tan?" "Of course" I said. She said, "buy some coke, not diet coke, cherry coke or generic, just plain coke and apply it over skin." Believe me I did and laid out for a while, I got up, and I have the best tan ever. It lasted for about 6-7 months. So now I do it here in Milwaukee when it gets hot. I even use the coke in the tanning machines and it really works. And no bugs will eat you. The coke dries in your skin and then your skin is silky. This is the best tanning lotion I have ever used."Do you really believe it? I want to try it if this is the best tanning lotion but there's no need because my skin is brown.

Wow this is one i have never heard about before! Wouldnt the sugar from the coke attract insects and others buzzies? I generally tend to use coconut oil or creme, however i use protection with a high factor for the first few days of a holiday as i cant let myself burn.
Skin cancer is a big worry for me so i tend to never let myself go red or burnt, especially never let myself blister! I once when i was younger put cooking oil on my shoulders (very stupid i know) and walked round town all day!
Oh the pain, i made a dreadful mess of myself and got sun stroke too! I will pass this tip on to my boyfriend though he is quite dark skinned and tans nicely.

I have never heard that one before. I have heard using butter, baby oil with a little iodine added, cocoa butter and a few others. I tan easily so I don't know that coke would help me any. Maybe I will find someone who doesn't tan easily and have them try it. I am curious to see if it works.
