I have this major problem. Mainly during weekends when I'm at home all the times, i can restrict myself from buying things so much. After that I realise that all of those were not necessary. I have tried to control myself but could not. Again most of it happen when I go for Shopping.I want your kind advice in this regard.

pretty much all i shop for anymore is groceries, and even then i find it difficult to be frugal, because i like buying good-quality food which costs more than cheap stuff. i have no problem with generic brands, but come on, i'm not going to buy imitation cheese just because it's $2 cheaper than the real stuff. i leave my debit card at home and just take cash with me, so i can only spend as much as i have. as for everyplace else, i just try to stay away...

Usually my husband and I shop together. He's the type that things that anything I want is not needed, especially when I comes to yogurt and stuff. However he goes overboard and sometimes I do not buy something that I really do need. So there is a minus side to restriction so you have better be careful. When we're grocery shopping, I make a list and follow it. Now for the other times, just imagine some horrible thing happening to you, like you losing your job, the rent increasing, etc. if you were to buy that unnecessary item. So if you look in the store and see those shoes you just want to have (unless you put the money aside and saved for it) think of, well, your washing machine will break down at that particular moment. I use this same mental image when I want to pay with my credit card and I have not enough money in the bank to transfer over to pay for it.

Though I enjoy spending money, I am not a spendthrift. In fact, I am one prduent spender :P I do not need to restrict myself when spending because I know what I need to spend on and how much I can afford to spend. If I am on a spending spree, one good way is to carry less cash. I try as far as possible to pay using cards. Paying by cards makes spending more enjoyable due to discounts, reward points and even credit period. The money 'not spent' yet may generate some interest with banks. lol. So instead of restricting your spending, spend and find ways to make more money :PPP
