Being sick is no fun. I have the flu. Chicken soup and hot tea does make me feel better. Medicines are helping a little. Is there anything else I can do to get well faster? Please share your tips.

I remember once when I had the flu, I had gone to bed feeling extremely sick, weak and miserable. I tossed and turned and could not get comfy. For some reason, I got up, grabbed my doonah and pillow and went and lay down on the loungeroom floor. It was a lovely, lightweight feather and down doonah; I rolled myself in it and began to sweat, then I fell into a deep sleep. I awoke in the morning and I was well. To this day I cannot tell you what made me roll myself up in the doonah and sleep on the floor, I'd never done it before and not since. I must have sweated out all the bad stuff that was in my body. I so hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself.

I've been fighting a cold or worse lately. My lips are dry and burning, my throat becomes coarse and sore and my sinuses are blocking. I think I'm getting a head cold but then my chest gets sore and I start to cough. I've found that drinking water has helped enormously. It clears my sinuses and relieves my achy head. I hope all is well with you.

I am a lot better now, thank you for asking. I do hope you feel a lot better also. If I pump the well enough, I can make sure you have plenty of water to drink. I do like our well water as it is always very cold and I do not have to use a lot of ice. When I do not feel well, cold water to drink is wonderful.

When I am running a fever, I wrap up in a heavy blanket and sweat it out. If that does not help, then I make a hot bath and soak in it. I try to get the entire bathroom steamy. Very steamy. Like a sweat lodge effect, it is very good for opening up the sinuses. Then follow this with a bath at a lower temperature but not cold.

I've been down with the flu twice for this year only, I'm bummed. Other than hot soup and medicines, I really don't have anything special but lots of sleep for energy, lots of vitamin to help your immune system and just to let it run it's course. I hope you feel better soon. And don't forget to drink lots of water too.

I am a lot better now. Yes, I did drink a lot of water and juices. I also slept a lot during this period of time.

All I can do is sympathise, I'm poorly today to. I thought I had got over my cold but it has come back. I find good warming meals like mashed potato or soup are very helpful, they make you sleepy so you get a better rest than if you were being hungry. That and honey lemon and whiskey toddies.

So sorry you are sick. I have also been sick. I have had the stomach flu. And when I do something I put my heart into it. I was sick for 48 hours instead of 24. I know one thing that is a help when sick with either one of these though. Get some Jello mix and fix it up. Instead of putting it in the fridge to set up, just drink it. That is right, before it sets, drink it. It soothes you from in to out and is not bad tasting. Get lots of rest and get lots of fluids, oh and popsicles always make me feel better alos.

preventive rather curative. thats the next step to bear in mind. but, since you're in the situation already i suggest go see a doctor if the symptoms are persistent. it could be anything else more than a flu. i hope not. lots of water really helps.

I did want to let you know that I eventually ended up going to the doctor in order to get well. It has been 3 months now and I am doing a lot better. It was a little more than a simple flu.
