Yes, I think it does distract the players,at least the batsmen .You might have noticed that a shot from Hayden hit Rauf very hard on his left arm.He sure stopped a boundary for the Newzealanders,lol.They should have thought of a better color for the umpires dress,especially because this is the world cup.

it certainlu would not in my opinion. if anything like that would have happened remember aussies do not keep quiet. though it should strongly not be followed in test cricket due to a red ball, ocassionally its ok in one day cricket
