NURBS Modelling for a Renderman pipeline.

I am trying to model a car using NURBS, the overall form of the car is fine, however I want the individual body panels to be whole surfaces. When I attach the individual surfaces the geometry becomes very messy, with isoparms all over the place. How can this be cleaned up, while still maintaining an accurate form.
