What makes Sanjaya of American Idol become most popular?

He doesn't have that "american idol" quality voice as compared to his other contenders but he can definitely sing. He doesn't have that "american idol" looks but i think he's cute and i like his smile..hehehe. He doesn't have that star quality image but i think he's the most well-liked performer in american idol. In fact, Simon Cowell really is harsh on his comments and criticisms after most of Sanjaya's performances. BUT... as i read in one of the articles about Sanjaya, he's one of the most searched out in the internet, he is most well-liked by american idol viewers, and i think he has one of the most number of text votes! I think its just because of his personality that makes him "click" with american idol viewers and fans.. After listening to the blunt of Simon..he just smiles his way off and do his own way still with confidence in his next performance. As simple as that. :) To all you american idol fans out there, what do you think?

I personally think it was his smile-- and carefree personality- Alot of other contestants would have broke under the pressure-- such negativity- and rude comments from Simon and America- Like that woman starving herself until he was off- Wow-- I bet she might have even passed away it was a while back that she said that- Sanjaya was teh underdog-- Lots of people vote for the underdog. I personally couldn't wait for him to be voted off-- But I liked him still-- just didn't think he could sing!

Yes I agree with you, I'm a Sanjaya fan and I believe he's got a career waiting for him even if he's already out of American Idol. Definitely he can sing, he wouldn't pass the auditions and be among the top contenders if he can't. For me he's got the look, he has his own style that make people remember him.
