The Filipinos will once again troop to the polling places all over the country to vote come May 14, 2007. To date, politicians are doing house to house campaigns, and campaign ads could be heard on radios and be seen on TV's. AS an educator, we also have a moral responsibility to give general guidelines to our students so that they would vote for the right persons who possess the following traits: honesty, decency, committed service. The list could go on and on. But today, we don't need people who will only add to our already ailing government bureaucracy. What we need are people who are selfless and sincere in their service to the people. Are we doomed forever if we make another mistake this coming election? Is the democratic exercise a promise of a better tomorrow for our children? What if people cheat, steal & buy votes, making the entire exercise futile and in vain? Are we this desperate that candidates do everything to destroy each other so as to win votes? Should we just watch helplessly?
