First of all you are talking apples and oranges here. Firstly both are living breathing things. As to whether or not it is right to eat meat I say YES.
I don't understand why people tend to try to humanize animals only in an effort to say look now BAMBI misses his mommy and you should have feel gulity to have been the cause of that.
Meat contains protiens and the like that simply can not be duplicated by eating beans or leaves.

to kill an animal is not the same like killing a human. you have to make differences. you cant compare two things that are different. They both live, but have a different level of self-perseption. If you are very consequent and so strict that you forbid all kind of killing of life, how some people do, than you should be really consequent. Then also dont kill plants, because they also live. And dont go outside the house. Because you will kill some ants who are walking in the street. I have no problem in killing animals to eat. I have problems with killing animals just for fun or fashion, or let them suffer before they die, like in big chicken farms. And i also dont like that people make difference and part animals in good and bad animals. For many people its totally ok to kill a fly, because she is just a boring, ungly thing, but if you kill a bee, you are a monster. why? because bees produce honey, what we like, and flys dont. Is that fair?

ok than you want to say that we must eat only veg, right don,t you know that plants also have got life, it is like as if you are killing a lamb who is paralyzed , and when you went to kill this lamb, it will not move at all, similar is the situation with plants, they can not make noise or move while you are cutting them up, in order to eat them, so that means you can not eat both of them that is veg as well as non veg, what you will do now.
