how many detectors do you have in your home, do you check them regularely and do you replace them every 10 years. i moved in here almost 2 years ago. i figured the smoke alarm was checked while my dad was getting the place ready for me to move in. then i'd always say to myself i should check it but then forget. anyway after almost 2 years i finally check it and find out there is no battery, thank god nothing has ever happened.

I have a small hours so I have one smoke alarm and one carbon detector. These alarms are great. I think all homes should have at least one of each. Carbon is not detectable and can kill fast. Smoke is also a fast killer. We check both alarms twice a year. If they need batteries the alarms sound a small beep, telling us to change batteries. If you do not have one of each of these detectors in your home you should look into getting one. Some fire station give them away to help you save money.

here in this apartment there is only one smoke detector. It is hard lined to the electricity so no battery needed. In our house we will have them on every floor and one in our daughters room. The furnace is old so we will have carbon-monoxide detectors also on the ground floor and upstairs. We check the batteriesin our smoke alarms every time the time changes spring and fall.
